Kodable Basics, our well known K-2 beginner coding app has a lot to offer! Explore the article below to discover the different coding games and the skills your students will gain in each.

Entering "Fuzztopia"

When students enter Kodable Basics for the first time, they will complete a 5-minute tutorial before Fuzztopia loads. Here, they unlock keys to access buildings, starting with "Mission Control," the treehouse in the center.

Mission Control

In Mission Control, explore the Galaxy Map, join Beach Cleanup to code and protect ocean animals, or use Quick Play to resume your game. Pro account holders can access the Vortex for additional coding practice after school.

The Galaxy Map

Each Kodable course consists of interactive maze levels focused on specific coding concepts, each represented by a unique planet on the galaxy map. Students can explore courses by navigating the map clockwise or based on their interests.

The fire icon indicates difficulty, and courses become progressively more challenging as students advance, reflecting their growth.

Kodable Basics Course Levels:

Beginner Courses:

  • πŸ”₯ Cloudhaven (Sequence, De-Bugging)

More to Explore Within Kodable:

After completing lessons on the Galaxy Map, students unlock new courses in Fuzztopia to apply their coding skills creatively. In Maze Maker, they design and code their own mazes. Fuzz Builder lets them create and customize their own Fuzz, while the Pets course challenges them to code a robot to care for dogs. Each course offers a unique way to reinforce and extend their learning in an engaging environment. Read on to learn more about these creative courses!

Fuzz Builder

In Fuzz Builder, students use the KODE editor to create their own Fuzz with JavaScript or Swift, customizing features like color, mouth type, and accessories. As they progress, they unlock more options, like costumes and items.

Maze Maker

In Maze Maker, students design and decorate mazes, sharing them with classmates or globally for others to play. They apply coding concepts like sequences, conditions, loops, and functions, with options like the 'rapid sort' feature and unlimited practice to refine their skills.

Maze sharing is fully anonymous, ensuring no personal information is ever disclosed. For more details, see our privacy policy.

Pets

In the Pets course, students use the KODE editor to program a CareBot and care for their virtual pets, applying coding concepts like conditions, loops, and functions. As they progress, they unlock new CareBot features and customize pet rooms, reinforcing coding skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Learn more about Pets here.

Kodable Creator

Are your students wondering about Game Designer? Great news! They can now code and design their own games with Kodable Creator, our new free app recommended for 3rd-5th graders. Learn more about it here.
