Assessments are integrated into each mission, helping teachers track student progress in coding concepts like sequencing and conditionals.

Key Features:

  • Integrated Assessment Levels: Students encounter assessment levels as they progress, with no hints available to ensure accurate skill assessment.

  • Free Play Mode: Struggling students automatically enter Free Play for extra practice before retaking assessments.

How It Works:

  1. Learning Progression: Students are introduced to coding concepts through missions designed for each learner. Your assignments can even be customized by grade level ability!

  2. Practice Levels: Adaptive practice levels reinforce learning before assessments.

  3. Assessment Levels: Students complete assessments without hints to demonstrate their understanding.

  4. Free Play Mode: Extra practice is provided if students don't pass an assessment.

Teacher Benefits:

  • Extended Use: Kodable Basics offers nearly double the levels, supporting year-round teaching.

  • Effortless Differentiation: Built-in practice levels automatically adapt to each student's needs.

  • Accurate Insights: Hint-free assessments give clear insight into student progress.

What will students see?

Within each course, students will complete missions to build their coding skills. At the end of each mission, students will work to earn one of four different levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Mastery through a coding challenge, or assessment.

If a student is having difficulty with an assessment, they can enter Free Play mode, which will allow them extra practice until they are able to master the challenge independently.

Students can also see their progress on the Galaxy map indicated by the visual status bar under each course.

What do teachers see?

You can easily check your students' progress and see their assessment results right from your teacher dashboard! Here’s a quick guide to help you:

  1. Go to the "My Classes" page – Start by selecting the class you want to view progress for.

  1. Click on the "Progress" tab – This will show you a class breakdown of how your students are doing across different courses.

In the "Progress" tab, you’ll see how your students are progressing with their Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Mastery-level badges. You can also use the toggle at the top to switch between viewing their mastery for both Basics and Creator courses.

If you want more details on an individual student, just click on their name! You’ll get a personalized breakdown showing:

  • How many lessons they’ve passed

  • Stars earned in each lesson

  • Any extra practice they needed

  • And their assessment completion

Assessments in Kodable Basics now offer a seamless way to track student progress while supporting differentiated learning. With automatic practice levels, integrated assessments, and a visual representation of achievements, teachers can effectively monitor each student's journey through coding concepts. Happy Coding!
