What is Kodable Jr. Mode?
Kodable Jr. mode is a simplified experience within Kodable Basics designed specifically for early learners. It’s crafted to align with the developmental needs of young students, focused on keeping students on-task and minimizing steps to log in, while offering a fun, guided introduction to Computer Science and STEM.
Kodable Jr. mode gives students:
A simplified login and menu navigation experience with minimal button presses
Streamlined, linear course progression emphasizing age-appropriate content
Fewer distractions, more focus on course content
How does it work?
Kodable Jr. mode can be enabled for any class directly from your teacher dashboard. Once enabled, students logging in for that class will see a different menu experience than those using the standard Kodable Basics format.
Kodable Jr gives early learners a simplified login experience. Students will get a streamlined menu structure that gets them playing Kodable Basics as quickly and easily as possible. We’ve reduced the number of button presses to the absolute minimum and reworked our menu structure to minimize distractions for our youngest…exciteable learners ;)
All Kodable Basics content is available in Kodable Jr mode. In simplifying the login experience as much as possible for young learners, we’ve had to move some of our content around. However, all content, levels, and modes can still be accessed.
Kodable Jr mode can be enabled and disabled at any time. Since all content is available, enabling and disabling this mode will have no impact on their level progression.
What do students see in Kodable Jr. Mode?
When Kodable Jr. Mode is enabled, students are prompted to continue progressing through their course right away. When they’re ready to explore additional content, they can use the menu button to access other areas.
Here, they can navigate a linear Galaxy Map completing one course at a time. Creative areas in Fuzztopia remain available.
Students can also access the Vortex and Beach Clean up by selecting the “more” button for additional practice!
How Do I Enable or Disable Kodable Jr. Mode?
Kodable Jr. Mode can be toggled from the Home tab of any class page on your teacher dashboard. Kodable Jr mode is only available for classes with grade levels K, 1, and Other. Enabling Jr. Mode changes the student interface but does not affect level progression. This means you can start students in Kodable Jr. and move to the full Kodable Basics format later as they gain confidence and independence.
