Troubleshooting: Fixing WebGL Errors in Chrome

If you’re encountering an error related to graphics or WebGL in Chrome, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

1. Update Chrome and Graphics Drivers:

  • Update Chrome: Go to chrome://settings/help and check for updates.

  • Update Graphics Drivers: Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific card.

2. Enable Hardware Acceleration:

  • Make sure “Use hardware acceleration when available” is checked.

  • Relaunch Chrome for the changes to take effect.

3. Check WebGL Status: Go to chrome://gpu.

  • Check the “Graphics Feature Status” section to see if WebGL and WebGL2 are hardware-accelerated.

  • If they are not, check the “Problems Detected” section for any issues.

  • If WebGL is unavailable, check the “Problems Detected” section for information on why WebGL might be turned off.
